Individuals most often ask for a reading of a summons, a divorce or parenting plan, a will, and a labour or consumer dispute they cannot face alone. We consult first; we litigate when the facts require it.
Civil Legal Consulting
Debt, delict, neighbour disputes, defamation, and contract claims between individuals. We assess prescription, jurisdiction, and whether a letter of demand will do more good than a summons. Magistrates’ Court and High Court action is taken on instruction.
- Letters of demand and settlement
- Defended and undefended actions
- Interdicts in urgent cases
Family Law Consulting
Divorce, Rule 43 maintenance pending suit, parenting plans, care and contact, and domestic-violence protection orders. Antenuptial contracts are prepared with a notary. For foreign spouses, we keep the family file aligned with the visa or permanent-residence file so one process does not undo the other.
- Unopposed and opposed divorce
- Maintenance and variation
- Hague and cross-border child matters, referred where specialist counsel is required
Wills, Estates and Succession
Wills that can be proved, living wills, and advice to executors. Foreign assets and dual nationality need careful wording; we work with the estate’s tax adviser.
Individual Labour Matters
Unfair dismissal, unfair labour practice, and discrimination referrals to the CCMA. Review of a settlement or restraint before you sign.
Consumer and Contract Advice
National Credit Act and Consumer Protection Act complaints, gym and school contracts, and private sale agreements. A short written opinion is often enough.
Property and Lease Advice
Residential lease review, deposit disputes, and the path to the Rental Housing Tribunal. Conveyancing and transfers are referred to a conveyancer; we remain on the file for the client’s instructions.
Criminal trial advocacy and certain family High Court work may be briefed out. You will be told before any brief is sent.
